  1. Are utilities included?

48west will provide Internet access, expanded cable, and refuse and snow removal. You will be responsible for the gas, electric, and water expenses for your apartment or town home. Utility provider information is available under “the 411”

  2. Are pets allowed?

48west welcomes pets. Please call our helpful associates in the leasing office to find out the requirements for bringing your pet to live with you. There are weight limits and other restrictions. Your pet must be approved by the 48west property manager.

  3. What is the difference between the 48west lease agreement and other apartment leases?

At 48west you are only responsible for your portion of the rental amount, rather than the whole apartment or town home. Therefore, you are never responsible for your roommate’s portion of the rent if he or she fails to pay.

  4. Is Internet access included?

Yes! Both wireless and hard-line Internet access are available in every bedroom and the common areas in your home.

  5. Is cable television included?

Yes! The full expanded line-up of basic cable channels is included in your rent.

  6. Will my financial aid cover 48west’s housing charges?

Yes! 48west’s charges can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are paid, may be used for non-institutional expenses such as rent.

  7. Can I move into 48west today?

Sorry, no. You have to wait until August 2008.

  8. Will I have to share a bedroom?

No! You get your own, privately keyed bedroom AND a private bathroom at 48west.

  9. Are private bathrooms available?

Yes! 48west offers one bathroom for each bedroom in all of our floor plan styles.

  10. Can I live with my friends?

Absolutely! 48west offers one, two and four-person apartments and town homes. You may select your roommates, or use a roommate service to fill your apartment or town home.

  11. Are 48west apartments and town homes furnished?

It’s up to you! 48west homes may be leased either furnished or unfurnished.

  12. May I park my car at 48west?

Yes! 48west offers parking for one vehicle per bedroom (with a parking permit) in open-air parking spaces. A limited amount of carport parking is available with a special permit.

  13. Are there washers and dryers on the property?

Yes! Each home is equipped with a full-size washer and dryer.

  14. Are meal plans included at 48west?

All apartments and town homes come with a full kitchen, which includes a dishwasher, full-size refrigerator, range with oven, and a microwave oven for your use.

  15. May I request a specific apartment, town home or building at 48west?

We will do our best to accommodate special requests. Requests should be made on your application. Please remember that we must operate on a first-come, first-serve basis, so it is not always possible to accommodate special requests.

  16. Is there a curfew at 48west?

No. 48west is an apartment and town home community that offers its residents a great deal of freedom. Residents are expected to behave in a courteous manner while living in the community. Given the academic nature of the community, quiet hours will be observed from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m. to promote the peaceful enjoyment of your home.

  17. What if I need maintenance in my apartment or town home?

48west has its own professional maintenance team. You may request maintenance service by e-mail, by calling the leasing office, via the “fyi/what do you need” section of the website, or in person at the leasing office.

  18. Does 48west accept financial aid?

48west does not work directly with any financial aid offices. However, we will work with individual Residents in arranging a payment schedule that coincides with the arrival of financial aid awards.

  19. Can I choose my roommates?

Yes, you are encouraged to bring your roommates. You should write the name(s) of those who you plan to share your apartment or town home with on your application.

  20. I am graduating in December. Can I get out of my 48west lease agreement?

48west does not allow residents to “get out of their leases”, but 48west will allow residents to find someone to take over their lease agreements (subject to the usual qualification standards and approval by 48west management). It is the responsibility of the resident to find a replacement, and rent payments remain the responsibility of the resident until a suitable replacement is found.
